Join the Aylesford ‘Constantia Fresh’ Sauvignon Blanc Festival’s first celebration as Buitenverwachting hosts the International Sauvignon Blanc Tasting in their Old Cellar. Guests will taste wines of differing vintages from the best producers of the Loire, alongside New Zealand and the Constantia region with the purpose of establishing stylistic differences, ageability, strong and weak points in comparison to other world-class Sauvignon Blancs. Attending this tasting in person will be Jasper Raats of Koru in the Marlborough region in New Zealand, Sebastian Redde of Michel Redde et fils from the Loire (with vineyards in Pouilly and Sancerre) and Master of Wine, Cathy van Zyl who will address the tasting with an introduction to the freshness of Sauvignon Blanc. Taste local and international wines in an intimate setting and judge for yourself the ageability and freshness of this noble grape variety.

Constantia Uitsig’s Award-winning La Colombe Restaurant is the setting for the Fine-Dining Event where matured international and Constantia Sauvignon Blancs will highlight the compatibility of Sauvignon Blanc and food. Welcomed with a glass of a Constantia Méthode Cap Classique, guests will be given a brief address by Aylesford ‘Constantia Fresh’ Sauvignon Blanc Festival organiser, Jörg Pfützner and the executive chef of La Colombe Restaurant, Luke Dale-Roberts. Guests will sit down to a five-course degustation menu paired with the 14 different red and white wines from the Loire and Constantia.

Groot Constantia is the host to the Aylesford ‘Constantia Fresh’ Festival’s red wine component of this two day festival. This international red wine tasting has the objective of exploring and showcasing the freshness found in red wines. The line up of wines will feature different vintages of Bordeaux, high-end Australian Shiraz, wines of the northern Rhône Valley, South African Bordeaux blends and Shiraz of Constantia and other regions.

Set on the beautiful lawns of the Buitenverwachting Estate, the Sauvignon Blanc and Food Pairing Exhibition will take the form of food and wine pairing walk around tasting. More than a thirty local, regional and international Sauvignon Blanc producers have been invited to attend this event where they will exhibit their wines alongside the top chefs of the Cape. All exhibiting regions will be paired with these top chefs of the Cape and other Sauvignon Blanc producing regions so that guests will be able to select and taste the canapés crafted for these wines. Following the exhibition guests will be invited to a picnic to sit on the lawns and enjoy live entertainment in the form of Adamu whilst enjoying the red wines of the Constantia Valley.
