As part of the 2012 Constantia Fresh Festival kick off on the 24th of February, a tasting will be held that will tickle your palate, stimulate your mind and leave you with restored faith in humankind. It's going to be that good. The quality of the wines listed below almost makes any more description of the event seem superfluous.
This year Jörg Pfützner of Fine Wine Events will host a tasting that focuses on Constantia's finest red blends and Shiraz in the company of some excellent and sought after international versions. It is not a competition, it is not attempting to trick anyone into thinking the wines of Constantia are the one's of France or vica versa. The tasting is not trying to shout that the wines of Constantia are the best in the world, rather, that it is amongst the finest in the world that they find their most suitable company.
Wines from Chateau Leoville Barton, Dominus, and J. L. Chave will mingle happily with those from Buitenverwachting, Klein Constantia and Eagles Nest, all showing their varied styles but also their unmissable quality.
This is a tasting that looks to explore the similarities and differences shared by a host of excellent wines. We are confident that it will also affirm the notion we hold after the last two years of Constantia Fresh tastings: the wines of Constantia and the finest in the world make excellent companions.
This tasting is a sort of world stage, where each of the wines will show its own particular style and place, while the overall performance will be deliciously thought provoking.
The wines will be tasted blind in six flights of four, grouped together under the headings old, top, classic, value, elegance, and power. There will be breaks between flights to give everyone's palates a break. Tickets to attend the festival’s opening event are on sale at all participating Constantia producers at R1500 per person. Seats are limited to 40 places. Contact info@finewineevents.co.za
